- The students who are already enrolled in their professional degree programs including MD/PhD, JD/PhD, DVM/PhD. Are eligible for this program. However, such students will be funded only in their Ph.D. tenure.
- Candidates must not be faculty of the universities that are under the Vanier CGS quota. In the case of being a faculty member, applicants have to get a leave from their respective institute for a Ph.D. program.
- Candidates must be full-time students. If applicants have some disability or want to support their families financially, they can enroll in the part-time study program.
- For part-time study, a two-month study will considered as a one-month study to get equality with full-time students.
- Federal employees of the Canadian government are also eligible only if they get an unpaid leave for their doctoral studies.
- Eligible applicants have to apply both for agency-specific Ph.D. and Vanier Scholarships. Additionally, applicants have to select only one grant in case of receiving two grants.
